The Universal Sensor is an ultra-compact circuit board that can be used to add intelligence to a whole range of everyday objects like doorbells, third-party motion detectors and existing security systems. Essentially, the Universal Sensor takes any'volt-free' output - an electrical contact being closed - and reports it to the Home Centre. So, if you wire a Universal Sensor into your doorbell, when it's pressed the contact will close, the Universal Sensor will send a report and will know that someone's at your door. The Universal Sensor is designed to be small enough to mount inside existing devices like old-style security PIRs (motion sensors) to upgrade them with intelligence and incorporate them into your home network. The Universal Sensor also functions as a Z-Wave range extender and will repeat the Z-Wave network for optimum coverage.
